Collagen Treatments
Eyes
The eye area is one of the most dynamic and expressive areas on our face.
The constant movement and pulling of expressions with our eyes (which happens hundreds of times a day!), commonly leads to the creation of what is known as "crows' feet" around the corners of our eyes. The hazards of modern day life, especially long hours spent squinting at computer screens or time spent in the bright Australian sun, only adds to the problem.
Treatment
Crows' feet can be quickly, easily and effectively treated with Injectable Muscle Relaxants - with a single treatment lasting between three and five months.
The treatment itself is generally over in fifteen minutes, and does not require recovery time. In fact, many of our clients pop in during their lunch break, returning to work straight away.
Forehead
Like the eye area, the forehead is one of the most dynamic and expressive areas on the face. We use the muscles in our forehead to create hundreds of expressions everyday.
These repeated facial expressions (or muscle movements) eventually cause the skin to fold and wrinkle, resulting in horizontal lines running across our forehead and vertical lines between our brow.
As we age, these lines (frown or worry lines) are quite often very prominent.
Treatment
The optimum solution is the use of an Injectable Muscle Relaxant, which works to minimise muscle movement in the forehead, which results in the smoothing away of lines across the forehead and between the brows. As little as 2-3 treatments a year
are required.
For deeper lines which are visible when the face is at rest (static lines), the Injectable Muscle Relaxant can be supplemented with an Injectable Dermal Filler. The Dermal Filler plumps the skin, filling in static forehead creases to create a fresh youthful appearance.
Mouth Area
Two of the most common problems that occur around the mouth area, are the fine lines (feather lines) that run directly out from the top and bottom lip, and deep smile lines (marionette lines) which form at either side of the mouth.
Treatment
Feather lines are easily treated by Dr Bakaric by the use of very fine Injectable Dermal Filler, which plumps the skin, filling in the fine static lines to leave a smooth finish around the mouth.
Marionette lines are treated in two steps to leave a smooth appearance: -
1 - Muscle Relaxant Injections (to ease excessive wrinkle forming movement)
2 - Injectable Dermal Filler (to raise deep static lines creating a smooth finish)
Lips
Our lips are the most sensual feature on our face. But unfortunately, as we age, our lips lose their youthful fullness and defined shape.
Optimum lip definition and lip plumpness can be restored with the use of Injectable Dermal Fillers, restoring vitality to the whole face.
Treatment
Injectable Dermal Fillers are used in two ways to restore a natural, full and youthful look to the lip.
1 - Small amounts of Dermal Filler is injected along the top and bottom lip line
(vermillion border) to define the shape of the lip.
2 - Dermal Filler is then injected into the main body of the lip to restore it to its
natural plump (kissable!) look.
A single treatment lasts on average five months.
Nose
The two most common problems found in the nose area are "bunny lines" and naso - labial folds.
Bunny lines are the fine lines along the bridge of the nose, which are the result of squinting and the wrinkling of our noses.
Naso-labial folds, which are the often quite prominent, are the ridges or edges that appear from the base of the nose, and run out to the angle of the mouth.
Treatment
These ageing lines and folds are best treated with a combination of Injectable Muscle Relaxants to arrest excessive wrinkle causing movement, and with Injectable Dermal Filler to plump out static lines (lines present when the face is at rest) leaving a smooth and fresh appearance.
Chin
A busy chin (a chin that moves around a lot) is easily treated with injectable muscle relaxant, which helps reduce excessive, wrinkle-forming movement in the area.
Treatment
Deep or fine lines created by a busy chin are easily treated with by the use of dermal fillers to fill static lines leaving a smooth finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do we get wrinkles?
ur skin is the largest organ of our body, and is comprised of three layers – outer (epidermis), middle (dermis) and deep inner (subcutaneous).
The Dermis (middle layer) of skin functions as the skin’s support structure and contains collagen, elastin and other biological substances – including hyaluronic acid (which helps to “bind water” which is necessary to keep skin full and prevent dryness).
As we age, the production of these substances decreases and the elastin fibers become looser and gather in formations, visible as wrinkles, fine lines and folds.
Every time our muscles pull on our skin to form facial expressions, we are in fact squeezing out tiny amounts of precious collagen and hyaluronic acid.
How do Injectable Muscle Relaxants work?
The Muscle Relaxant Injections cause the injected muscles to “relax” so that they no longer contract (squeezing out tiny amounts of precious collagen and hyaluronic acid) and cause lines and wrinkles to form. Muscle relaxant injections also block nerve impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are directly related to expression lines. After treatment, the skin overlying the treated area becomes smooth and unwrinkled. The muscles that went untreated contract as usual and leave normal facial expressions unaffected.
How do Injectable Dermal Fillers work?
Dermal Fillers are injected into the skin in tiny amounts – using an ultra fine needle. Dr.Bakaric may massage your skin gently to optimize contouring of the gel. This treatment works in 2 ways: once injected into the “mid to deep dermis” (middle layer of skin), the dermal filler gel adds volume and fullness which smoothes out facial wrinkles and folds. Then, the gel integrates into dermal tissue, attracts and binds to water molecules and helps to maintain volume.
Injectable Dermal Filler is made from the body’s own material –“hylauronic acid or collagen” and provide instantaneous, long-lasting natural enhancement
What is the recovery time?
Muscle Relaxant Injections requires no recovery time – you can head straight back to the office or out to a party after treatment!
Dermal Filler Injections may cause minor redness and some swelling for up to 24 hours after treatment, but this can be easily disguised with makeup.
How long will the treatments last?
- Muscle Relaxant Injections will usually last three to five months.
- Dermal Filler Injections will usually last between four and eight months.
NB: With both products, more treatments mean longer-lasting effects.
Do treatments hurt?
No, they don’'t!
For Muscle Relaxant Injection treatments, ice is used to numb the area avoiding
any discomfort.
For Injectable Dermal Filler treatments, an anesthetic cream is used to numb the area or an anesthetic injection (similar to those used by your dentist) can be used to “block” any feeling in the area being treated.
